Today my brother is alive for a quarter of a century.
He had an unpleasant experience recently, which I will not go into detail about because it might not be my place and also it’s not too relevant to this here post. Suffice to say that it’s the sort of experience that might well be cause to some people to become cynical and angry with people and humanity. That doesn’t seem to be my brother’s reaction, though. Instead, his Facebook wall now hosts the following quote:
“Hate is baggage. Life’s too short to be pissed off all the time. It’s just not worth it.” – Danny Vinyard
I think my brother is becoming quite an impressive person. He works very hard, and has done for years; he now has his own job, car, house, and girlfriend; and he goes through famous literature at an alarming rate. He’s a well-rounded, cultured individual. I think I have a lot to learn from him.
I just wanted to write this brief blog entry to sing his praises, and to wish him a happy birthday. Ode to my brother 🙂
